About Me

I’m a junior in the biology education program at Purdue university. My primary major is in biology, and I’m working towards a minor in chemistry. I have a natural passion for all the sciences especially chem. and bio because a good majority of life can be explained through them or at least through application of the scientific method.

I’ve completed two semesters of teaching and observational learning in the West Lafayette area. The first was at Tecumseh Middle School and it was in a general science classroom which was a different dynamic than I was used to. I found the middle school kids to be a bit more of a challenge to work with than the high school students I got to work with the following semester at West side. Based on those teaching experiences I think I’d like to work with high school students in a general, honors, or AP biology setting.

I’ve also done a bit of laboratory work during a summer internship with the company Oil-Dri. Work at that company had more of a chemistry basis which was enjoyable, though not my true passion.

Genetics is the focus of my blog because I find it undeniably interesting in that so many little components direct and dictate our resulting lives. I aspire to know as much about it as possible since it is going to be at the forefront of science for the next decade at least.

Other interests of mine include travel, cooking, writing, and dance.
